New York Asia Week

September 16th-19th

I will be visiting New York City for five days to attend the festivities which include the Asian Art previews at Bonham's, Christie's and Sotheby's. There will be numerous Asian Art themed exhibition openings including shows at Asia Society New York, The Rubin Museum, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Visit to Chicago

September 9th-10th 

I will be in Chicago visiting Hindman Auctions to preview their upcoming Asian Art auction on September 23. Please stop by if you are in the area! During my spare time, I will be re-visiting the Asian Art galleries at the Art Institute of Chicago.

Collecting Chinese Art in Canada: An introduction to the people who shaped the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto

A Zoom lecture by Anthony Wu at 1pm EST on August 26th

I will be talking about the founders of the Chinese art department at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). This lecture will focus on the museum's major directors, curators, collectors and benefactors including Charles Trick Currelly, George Patrick Crofts, Sarah Trumbull Warren and Bishop William Charles White. The event is hosted by the Young Women of Asian Art, an association founded by a select group of renowned women in the Asian Art industry including dealers and auction house specialists.

Chinese Art: Collecting in the 21st Century

Presented by the CDSA (The Canadian Society of Decorative Arts)

A Zoom lecture by Anthony Wu at 7pm EST on August 12th

I will speak about a selection of Chinese decorative art objects that will include porcelain, ceramics, jade carvings, snuff bottles, furniture and paintings. I will also address the changing market and the benefits of collecting Chinese art for a new generation. An invitation to the lecture can be found here.

This Zoom lecture will be hosted by The Young Professionals and Creatives (YP&C) of the CDSA. The CSDA initiated YP&C to further its commitment to diversity and to reflect growing interest in areas such as design, architecture, fashion, and environmentally responsible practices.

Heffel Gallery Appraisal Day in Toronto

August 11th from 10am to 5pm

I will be at the Heffel Gallery in Toronto at 13 Hazelton Ave in Yorkville from 10 am to 5pm. Feel free to bring in your Asian artwork for a complimentary valuation. My colleagues can look at other categories including Canadian, International and Inuit artwork.
